Fixed our canonical link issue for the Holidays!

For the longest time our beta site, this site, has only had 8 pages indexed in Google. This wasn’t a big deal when getting all the kinks out of the site. However, with the Christmas shopping season here it would be nice to let people know about more of our content (like some of the new tablets recently added)!

So what was the issue holding us back? A canonical link listing in the header of our pages was limiting Google from indexing many of our pages. WordPress adds it by default and with our custom setup it was incorrectly listing all of our device listings with the wrong canonical link:

<link rel=’canonical’ href=’‘ />

If you ever have a similar issue, here is an easy fix, just add the following to your theme’s functions.php file:

remove_action(‘wp_head’, ‘rel_canonical’);

Voila, verify that the canonical link header listing is gone and then you should be good to go! :-)
